Foundations of Emergency Medicine learner resource
Airway Video Database and Airway of the Month
The Airway Video Database (AVD) is a free, open-access repository of deidentified airway videos for education and research. It was created at The University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) and The University of Kansas Health System (TUKHS) by Dr. Andrew Pirotte from the Department of Emergency Medicine.
The educational content is created and produced by Dr. Andrew Pirotte and Dr. Kyle Brown from KUMC/TUKHS Emergency Medicine and Dr. Reba Hodge from Emergency Medicine/Critical Care Medicine at Prisma Health/University of South Carolina.
This page is intentionally simple: a short project description, a clear list of links, and brief summaries of the major components for Foundations learners and faculty.

Airway Introduction
The Airway Introduction video is a brief overview of what the database has to offer, why it was created, how to navigate it, and how it can be used as a supplement for learners or the continuing education of those already in practice.
Airway Skills Tutorial Videos
The Airway Skills Tutorial Videos were created in a simulation environment. They walk through practice-enhancing techniques from basic room setup and video laryngoscopy optimization to difficult airways and advanced airway skills.
Airway Archive
The Airway Archive is the video-only repository. It contains airway videos that users can search by topic or hashtag for self-directed learning, scenario review, and special-technique examples.
Airway of the Month
Airway of the Month is a monthly tutorial series that walks through airway scenarios, technique choices, view optimization, possible adjuncts or adjustments, and key take-aways to help clinicians grow their airway skills.
Ongoing updates
The team can use its X/Twitter account for free open-access dissemination of new AoTM cases, educational content, and future additions to the Airway Video Database.
Interactive companion hub
Airway of the Month Presents adds quick-hit clinical teaching tools: checklist mode, on-shift rescue, post-intubation troubleshooting, calculator guides, peds color zones, video theater, and skill decks.
